Dear Parents/Guardians,
We want to inform you about Senate Bill 288, a legislative measure aimed at strengthening efforts to prevent sexual abuse and support the well-being of all children. This bill focuses on implementing evidence-based education and resources to empower students, educators, and families in recognizing, preventing, and addressing sexual abuse.
Key provisions of the bill include:
• Age-appropriate lessons for students on personal safety and boundaries.
• Training for school staff to recognize and respond to signs of abuse.
• Clear reporting procedures to ensure the safety and support of affected children.
In compliance with this legislation, Senate Bill 288 requirements will be implemented during the next several weeks at Joshua Dixon Elem.
The letter found in the link below, serves as a passive consent notification. If you have no concerns regarding your child’s participation, no action is required on your part. If you have any questions, concerns, or wish to opt out, please contact our school counselor, Mrs. Cathi Raub-Carney, at 330-482-5355 ext. 34402 or Cathi.Raub@ColumbianaSchools.org

Good afternoon,
This message is for parents who signed their child up for tomorrow's Mobile Dentist visit. The company has canceled for tomorrow and has rescheduled for March 27, 2025. Thank you.
The Columbiana Exempted Village School District will be on a two hour delay today, Thursday, December 5.
Dixon Reminders:
For the safety of all students and staff, we ask for your cooperation with the following procedures during arrival and dismissal: Buses have the right of way when pulling into the bus drop-off. Parents are continuing to park in the side lot. Please do not. We have arrival and dismissal procedures in place. Children know the rules and want to follow them. Thank you for your attention to these important safety procedures. Together, we can keep our parking lot safe for everyone!
Beginning Monday, November 11, 2024, the city’s sewer expansion project may impact Dixon’s traffic flow during arrival and dismissal. City workers are going to try hard to maintain one-lane of traffic on Stanton Ave. However, there is the potential for road closures at Stanton and Main, as well as Stanton and North Middle. Closures will be clear and visible. For safety, temporary alternate routes that may be used are Cherry St. to N. Middle or coming in on Salem St. will work too.
Monday, Nov. 11, 2024, is National Kindness Day! To kick-off our every Monday kindness lessons, please wear your ALWAYS BE KIND shirt! Kind shirts may be worn every Monday!
Have a great weekend!
