In anticipation of the impending weather warnings for ice and snow tomorrow, the Columbiana Exempted Village Schools will be closed, Thursday, February 3rd. Each of the district’s buildings has reached their fifth calamity day (closures due to weather related issues). In the event that a school building is closed beyond a fifth calamity day, the staff will implement blizzard bags or on-line instruction for the 6th, 7th, and 8th calamity days. Blizzard bags are posted online by teachers for students to access the lesson. Teachers shall assign deadlines in accordance with state law and students will receive up to two weeks to return blizzard bag assignments.

Please know that the health and safety of our students, staff, and families are vital. In response to these unprecedented times, the Columbiana Exempted Village School District and Building Leadership Committees have worked diligently to provide our families with communication explaining policies, protocols, and procedures for each building. Welcome back Clippers! We hope everyone had a tremendous break, and we are so happy to have the children of the district back in classes. We are working our best to make certain our doors are open for instruction. We have a lot of work to accomplish and many goals to meet. Over the break, there have been a number of changes associated with the pandemic which have been reflected by changes in guidelines. The changes will again impact our schools and likely each of our family’s daily lives. • The one thing that remains the same is that if your child has any symptoms of illness that you keep them home until those symptoms are no longer present. • School exposures are those that occur in the classroom or a school sponsored activity. Those exposures are to mask for 10 days and monitor for symptoms. • Positive cases require that you isolate for 5 days from the onset of symptoms, and mask for 5 days given that you have no fever and improvement in symptoms for period of 24 hours prior to returning. • Outside exposures require that you quarantine for 5 days and mask for 5 days unless you have a current vaccination. If your vaccination is current, then the protocol is that you must mask for 10 days while monitoring for symptoms. • Please contact our school nurses at each of the buildings for guidance. We will assist you with any questions you may have! The following link is the most current Ohio Department of Health Guidelines to quarantines: https://5il.co/13nba Thank you and have a great 2022!!
