Artwork by two Joshua Dixon Elementary students is advancing to the State Fire Marshal's fire safety poster contest. The students are Jillian Wolsonovich, fourth grade and Piper Montgomery, third grade. Piper Montgomery's art was selected as state winner when she was in kindergarten.
According to the State Fire Marshal's Office posters had to include a fire prevention theme. Students drew their posters in art class, and drawings were submitted to the Columbiana Fire Department. The posters were judged by two former art teachers. The two posters will be sent to a committee at the Division of State Fire Marshal, 12 winners will be selected. Winners will be notified by the end of February 2021.
Hollie Godward, kindergarten, Aila Winner, first grade, and Teagan Powell, second grade were also chosen as first place winners for their grade.
