Gaga Ball

This morning, Elizabeth Siembeda stopped into the school to present Columbiana Middle School with a check for $661.05. This, along with a previous $500 donation, will be used to maintain the new Gaga Pit area added to the Columbiana Middle School playground this year as part of Elizabeth's Gold Award project for Girl Scouts.

Dr. Mook and Mrs. Siembida Boggs served as mentors for Elizabeth as she coordinated with Mr. Martin on student surveys to determine the focus of her project. Mr. Martin indicated that students are enjoying the new Gaga Pit this year. Martin stated, "The gaga pit is a beautiful addition to the playground, offering students access to an inclusive game where many can play simultaneously." Gaga ball is a fast-paced, inclusive game that incorporates dodging, throwing, running, and jumping as students hope to be the last person standing.

Siembida graduated from Columbiana High School and Columbiana County Career and Technical Center in 2024. She earned her Gold Award, a milestone that only five percent of Girl Scouts achieve. Siembida is the first Columbiana County Girl Scout to earn her Gold Award in 20 years.
