This year's winner for the snow plow design is Abby Barborak, with an amazing Olaf design. Abby is an 8th grader at CMS and this is Abby’s first time winning the design contest. With winter right around the corner, Abby couldn’t be happier that her kindness design will be seen all around Columbiana.
The CMS snow plow contest has been taking place for years. Many CMS students in grades 5-8 participate in creating a design, and then teachers vote to choose a winner. The messages written on the snow plow have varied every year, but this year the message is “spreading kindness.” Abby chose to have the words, “If you can be anything, be kind” on her design. Abby said, “I'm excited for others to see it because it will remind them to be kind.”
The snow plow design contest also has different themes each year. This year's theme was movie characters. Abby went with Olaf from Frozen. Abby stated, “I chose this design because it is good for the winter seasons and we had to do movie characters.”
All of the the winning snow plows from each county will be displayed at the Winter Readiness Event. With all of the creativity, artistic style and time put into the plow, make sure you keep an eye out for Abby’s design this winter.
