This year the Columbiana Area Chamber of Commerce recognized the following recipients for their service to Columbiana:
Educator of the Year: Charles Miller The Music Director of Columbiana High School, who in 2023 stepped up and took over the school’s drama production Beauty & the Beast while also preparing to perform with The Director’s Marching Band in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Above and beyond all of this is the personal interest that Mr. Miller takes in his band kids. He gives them a place to feel comfortable when everything else feels chaotic. He makes them feel heard when everyone else shuts them out.
Young Citizen of the Year: Jillian Wolsonovich Jillian, affectionately known as Jilly, is an incredible young lady who embodies kindness, academic excellence, and community spirit. Jillian actively participates in various school activities. She's a valued member of the Middle School Student Council, the Academic Challenge team, and the CHS Marching Band as a Band Aid and Pep Band player.
Jillian's involvement extends beyond the school, as she dedicates her time to the Squeaky Wheel Theater and the Columbiana Community Foundation. Whether she's performing on stage or volunteering behind the scenes, Jillian's passion for the arts is evident. She's a true advocate for the special needs community, ensuring everyone can enjoy and participate in the theater experience.
